Q. How effective are vehicle wraps?
A vehicle wrap is the most effective form of advertising in the market today. One car wrap garners between 30,000 and 70,000 views per day. It is a competitive environment and it isn't easy to create customer awareness by using simple, traditional advertising. You have to be out-of-the-ordinary to be seen in today's marketplace. If you want your brand to be recognized and be at the top of your client's mind when they are in need of your product or services, you have to stay in front of them daily.
Car wraps boast the lowest cost-per-impression rate compared to any other form of advertising media and are not only affordable for large brands that elect to use vehicle wraps as a core advertising strategy, but also for small and medium-sized businesses. You can't shut off the message on a vehicle, like you can on a TV, it is displaying your message and providing valuable advertising 24/7. A vehicle wrap has many benefits that the exceedingly more expensive traditional media lacks, check out the vehicle wrap facts below from the Outdoor Advertising Association of America:
  • Mobile advertising can be the most effective and efficient form of outdoor advertising, reaching more consumers at a lower Cost Per Thousand Impressions (CPM) than any other form of outdoor advertising.
  • More than 95% of Americans are reached by media targeting vehicle drivers and passengers.
  • The average American has traveled 302 miles in the past 7 days.
  • One vehicle wrap can generate between 30,000 - 70,000 impressions daily.
  • Federal Highway Administration study forecasts a sharp increase in the amount of time spent in personal vehicles and the number of trips per household.
Fleet vehicle wraps are ideally suited for various types advertising campaigns, including new product launch, and event marketing and are increasingly being used as part of the marketing mix.
  • Fleet vehicle advertising boosts name recognition 15 times greater than any other form of advertising.
  • Transit advertising has grown to be the second largest segment of the outdoor advertising industry in terms of dollars spent representing 19% (as of 2003). The Outdoor Advertising industry has nearly doubled since 1993 from $1.19B to $2.09B in 2003.
These numbers continue to grow each year.
  • Eight out of ten Americans report they have walked in a town, city or downtown area, on average 6.1 miles in the past seven days.
This pedestrian traffic represents a significant opportunity for advertisers.

Q: What is a vehicle wrap?
A vehicle consists of a design which is developed by our staff of designers, then printed on special vinyl wrap and laminated, and finally installed or "wrapped" on a vehicle. The wrap is applied directly to the vehicle. The application is so precise it is often mistaken for a custom paint job.

Q: How is a wrap designed?
Our award winning staff of designers specialize in Vehicle Wrap design. They work with the client throughout the process to ensure that the message conveyed in the design accurately and appropriately reflects that of the company, product or person. Final proofs, mockups and explanations are always reviewed prior to sending the job to print.

Q: How is a wrap printed?
Our onsite printing department and staff ensures the accurate transfer of the images through its advanced art print server. The large format printers are fitted with state of the art ink systems insuring the best color schemes and resolution available in the industry. We have carefully chosen the media we print on, which has been time tested for use in car wraps.

Q: How do you wrap a vehicle?
Our installers are put through a rigorous apprentice program before they are given the title of expert installer. Once they have reached this level, they are capable of handling the most intricate design wrap installations. The vinyl material is accurately laid out and applied to the vehicle - the actual process is extremely precise, requires a lot of experience and is difficult to explain in writing.

Q: Are car wraps applied to windows?
Yes, but only rear side and rear windows. Window wraps are printed on a special perforated vinyl that allows the driver to see through the rear and side rear windows.

Q: What if the company information on my wrap changes, can it be replaced?
Yes. Graphics, logos, and phone numbers (or any part of the design) can be changed, reprinted and re-installed as overlays on the car wrap.

Q: Can a wrap be removed?
Yes. The wrap can be removed. However, attempting to remove it yourself may cause damage to your paint. We suggest having WrapMasters expertly remove your vehicle wrap, as our installation professionals are best equipped this task.

Q: Will the wrap damage my paint?
No. A car wrap when applied and removed correctly, does not damage your car's OEM paint. In fact, it protects it.

Q: Is there a guarantee on the wrap?
The manufacturer warranties material failure for a 1 year to 5 years depending on the manufacturer and the type of vinyl.

Q: Will you wrap a leased vehicle?
Yes. Since a wrap can be removed without damaging a vehicle, there are no restrictions against wrapping a leased vehicle.

Q: How do I care for my wrap?
It is best to hand wash your wrapped vehicle. In general, avoid power washing and do not use an ice-scraper. Brushing windows and the use of a rear defroster will cause no damage to your window wrap.

Q: How long does it take to wrap a vehicle?
Our wraps are typically completed in 1-3 days, depending on the size of the vehicle and intricacy of the wrap. Time estimates are given to our customers prior to beginning the installation process.

Q: Do you wrap anything other than vehicles?
Yes, most anything that is not porous allows adherence. We have wrapped boats, urinals, horse trailers, kitchen mixers, elevators, tables, refrigerators & appliances, cabinets, AND MUCH MORE!

Q: What can go wrong with a wrap?
Good question...if the wrong materials or chemicals are used to care for your wrap it can be a disaster.

The 4 main reasons a vehicle wrap installation may fail:

Vinyl Wrap
Vinyl wrap material is not all the same - you can find some cheap material on the internet, but it may not withstand a week much less a year! Quality depends on the vinyl company - we use 3M and AVERY products mostly...sometimes there is a specialty wrap needed for a certain application. In this case you must research your brands. So basically the wrong vinyl will have poor adhesion to the vehicle surface, bubbling of vinyl, wrinkling of the film, or even tearing of the material! The best companies on the market offer vinyls for varieties of applications (i.e. wood, sheet rock/painted walls, concrete, metal, flooring, etc. It is very important that the correct vinyl is used for your automobile.

Pre-installation Cleaning
Car washing is important and most shops will require you to prep the vehicle by washing it. Now,  all dirt and oil must be removed from the car's surface to ensure a proper adhesion - any dirt or dust will show through the graphic installation; even the smallest of dirt particles and dust. Any oil or silicon residue can lead to poor adhesion (vinyl adhesive will NOT bond to silicone) and bubbling of the wrap material. So, we then go over the car with alcohol solution to super clean the finish. But first we use a clay bar to double check the finish is cleaned thoroughly. Ok, we are ready for installation, but be careful - the installation must be done in a place where dust is minimal, sunlight is not too hot, and preferably an indoor space.

Over Stretching
Research and Development in wrap vinyls are unbelievable today! That is why the best wraps are so expensive. When designing and printing a wrap, you don't want too much material (wasteful and expensive) and you sure don't want too little material. At least when you have too much you can fit the project and cut the excess, but when yo have too little you may have to stretch it too much. This will cause overstretching and the vinyl may lose it's color (whitening) or elasticity or adhesion. This happens frequently to vehicle bumpers, curves, or the inset panels on some vehicles like Sprinter Vans.

Post Heating
Since vehicle wrap vinyl is a form of PVC (PVC has memory to conform back to its original shape) you must post-heat the wrap. While memory retention is helpful if you overstretched, you will have problems with the wrap after stretching it around corners or recessed channels. It will look good when you are finished, but maybe a day or two or weeks and then the material starts to peel up or lift. Post heating the vinyl in these areas will cause the material to lose its original memory and set the adhesive layer to stay in place.
